Please Help Find Daniel

Fundraising Events - It’s about having fun too!

Amongst the tragedy, a community has rallied and bonded to unbelievable heights. There have been many great events where the spirit and goodwill of human nature has shone through along with some laughs.

The Daniel Morcombe Foundation will continue to host these great events that include golf days, concerts, dinners, BBQ's and a host of other functions.

It is the wish of Bruce & Denise that people come together, to enjoy each others company in an atmosphere of fun and happiness that will honour Daniel’s name.

Day for Daniel

Tuesday, 31st October 2006

Late last year many schools participated in a free dress day or themed day titled; 'Day for Daniel.' The children were encouraged to wear something red, a colour we have identified closely with Daniel as he was last seen wearing a red t-shirt. This gesture also provided schools with an opportunity to talk about personal safety, to encourage children to be observant of their surroundings and to look out for each other.

This year, for those schools who would like to participate in any way they chose, the committee has a supply of wristbands that are very popular with children and can be purchased to support the Foundation.

  Ride For Daniel
Sunday June 11th 2006

Story by REBECCA MARSHALL 12.06.2006

Motorcade of hope in memory of Daniel

Bruce and Denise Morcombe shared a silent tear during yesterday’s Ride for Daniel as the massive motorbike cavalcade passed by locations where their missing son Daniel had spent happy times. The collective, thunderous roar emitted by 1500 motorbikes during the spectacular ride sent one of the loudest anti-child abuse messages ever heard.
The family of Daniel Morcombe, the teenager who went missing while waiting for a bus in December 2003, proudly led the motorcade of bikes from the Big Pineapple to Nambour, Yandina and Coolum before finishing at the Ettamogah Pub. “It sends a powerful message,” Daniel’s dad, Bruce, said. “Denise and I and the greater family feel the energy here that makes a statement that says child abuse is not on.”
Mr Morcombe said the organisers unintentionally sent the motorcade past locations that held special memories for the family.
“The organisers didn’t realise but the route took us all past the place where Daniel learnt to ride a horse on Yandina-Coolum Road,” Mr Morcombe said.
“We also went past the Coolum motocross track, again where Daniel had spent some happy times. Denise and I looked at each other with a tear in our eye remembering those spots.”
The ride was expected to raise about $10,000 for the Daniel Morcombe Foundation – money that will help pay for the production of a DVD as well as bolster the resources of a trust fund set up for child victims of crime.
The rally also drew the support of the Bikers United Against Child Abuse.

Gala Dinner Dance for Daniel
Saturday 4th March, 2006 - Twin Waters Resort

Oh what a night! Over 430 guests danced the night away in an unforgettable night of emotion, generosity, friendship and fun. An outstanding array of national and local artists entertained the huge crowd in what is sure to become an annual event on the Sunshine Coast Social Calendar. Over $40,000 was raised on the night through donations, raffles and auctions thanks to a host of generous supporters of the Foundation. In return, the Foundation donated $25,000 to the Queensland Police to help Child Victims of Crime Trust.

Our special thanks to all who supported the event as your generosity will see the Foundation now being able to fulfill some of its many objectives. Work will now commence on a program that will be endorsed by the Queensland Police and implemented into schools on the Sunshine Coast & beyond as we educate our children about their ongoing personal safety.

Plans are already underway for a similar event in March 07. We hope to see you there so book early!
